Kashmir-origin doctor separates conjoined twins in Brazil’s first virtual reality surgery: The future of medicine is now

Famous surgeons from Kashmir Origin Dr. Noor Ul Owase Jeelani and his team have managed to separate the Brazilian twins that are integrated in the brain. That children survived complicated operations are not extraordinary about achievement. For the first time in Brazil, the surgeon practiced for this complicated procedure in the theater of virtual operations that straddled South America and Europe.
Gemini Untwed, a medical charity body based in London which helps parents of a 3-year-old boy Bernado and Arthur Lima accesses the operation, saying that it is “the most challenging and complex operation until now” because the brothers shared vessels vital blood.

To save time and reduce the risk for children, the surgeon who performs this tiring operation needs to know exactly what they will find after opening the skull of a boy. They need to know exactly where to make an incision and how to reconstruct the skin and tissue to separate the twins.

For their homework, they clamp the headset to enter online training sessions, where they can perform artificial ‘exercise’ operations in virtual reality. VR simulation allows doctors in Brazil and London to enter the same operating theater and trains using the virtual reality projections of the twins, based on CT and MRI scanning.
The team spent months to test and perfect the techniques they would use when children were at the operating table in front of them. Craniopagus – Joining the brain – Twins have undergone more than seven operations and the last stretches for 27 hours, with the medical team working continuously, only to stop for four 15 minutes of rest for food and water.
Unlimited medicine
Dr. Jeelani, who practiced at the Great Ormond Street hospital in the UK and was the main surgeon for Gemini that was not arranged which he founded in 2018, described the operation as “age items”.
He said it was the first time the team in two countries operates in the same virtual reality room together, making drugs ‘without limits’ literally as possible.
The headlines talk about virtual reality as a space that is mostly commercialized where one day people might be able to shop and entertain themselves, stripping their applications that are more meaningful that makes this technology truly revolutionary. The virtual reality operating room is just an example of innovation that can enrich human life. Gizmodo noted that surgeons, firefighters, pilots, oil barracks workers, and even the police had practiced in virtual reality for years.
Metaverse is more than just a place to trap consumers, it expands the scope of education, health care, and also business, provided access without interference to the internet and high network speeds become democratic worldwide.
Complex operation
The twins Bernado and Arthur Lima have spent their whole lives so far in the hospital. Because operations that were not successful before, the children had many scarring that complicated this procedure and Dr. Jeelani said that he was “really worried” about separating them. Their chances to survive are so low that doctors are surprised when they get through it.
Neurosurgeon Gabriel Mufarrej from Paulo Niemeyer State Brain Institute in Rio, where the procedure is carried out, “The twin has the most serious and difficult version of these conditions, with the highest risk of death for both … already historic that the two can be saved . ”
Dr. Jeelani, who had led five successful operations from the Siamese twins before this one, revealed that all the siblings reported very high blood pressure and postoperative heartbeat. He told the BBC that they were stable after the children were reunited four days later and touched the hands.
Bernardo and Arthur, who are almost four years old are the oldest Craniopagus twins that have been separated, said the report.
We don’t know yet to what extent they will be able to live a normal life, “Mufarrej told the media.
Boys are still in the hospital where they will recover for at least 6 months. They will finally be able to celebrate their fourth anniversary as separate individuals.
